Little Bud

Little Bud

This Quilt was created for my dear friends’ long awaited baby. I wanted to make a custom design that represented them coming together and creating something new as well as their hopes for their family. Each piece of the patchwork represents something of them. The vine and flower is the new life emerging from them. The design is based on the leaf and vine quilt in Cheryl Arkison’s book Sunday Morning Quilts. The mountain idea came from another blog. My husband and I had fun taking pictures of this one at a campground in Idaho.

I had fun making other things with the leftover material.

So I got a little carried away.

I called the Quilt “Little Bud”. The quilt is 100% organic including the batting (but excluding the thread). I was able to find some organic at my local stores My Sewing Room and Along Came Quilting and ordered the rest from fabricworm in California.

I made this lovely carry bag for all of it. The front of the bag uses a pattern I found on a blog of a girl on a tree swing using applique and thread paint. It was so much fun!
